Hi there! Well, here is a little about me… I am 23, living in Hull, and I was diagnosed with SLE when I was 20. I was feeling ill for about a week beforehand, but was then suddenly rushed to hospital with acute renal failure! I was an inpatient for a month, where I was diagnosed with SLE and put temporarily on haemodialysis. Thankfully, super-high doses of medication have now helped me to return to a 'normal' life, but it was a struggle to get there. I was shaken up by the whole 'fiasco' for at least a year afterwards, but now I calmly say that I have learnt from my experience, and wish to help others in similar situations. I am currently studying for my doctorate in clinical psychology at Hull. I practice as a psychologist 3 days a week, and the rest of the time I am producing my research thesis (which is interestingly about psychology in SLE). So, if you need some support about anything SLE-related, or even if you just fancy a chat, I am more than willing to help! ;-) |
