Leeds Lupus Clinic Drop-in Sessions
Leeds Lupus Clinic has moved out of Leeds General Infirmary this year and is now centred at Chapel Allerton Hospital. As a result the Connective Tissue Disease Helpline number to contact Elizabeth Tyas has now changed to 0113 3923035.
The Clinic is in a modern, bright, spacious Rheumatology Department, very different from the LGI and with on-site parking close by. Staff are still settling in and organising resources, but all seem very positive about the move. The furniture and resources from what was the 'Gillian Hankin Lupus Room' at LGI have been transferred to a room called the 'Quiet Room' at the end of the 'blue' corridor, just along from the new Clinic. This room is bigger than the room we had at LGI, it can easily seat 6-8 people, and can therefore accommodate small group meetings. We will of course be sharing its use with other Rheumatology support groups.
We've agreed with the Clinic that we will have the room available to us every 2nd Thursday of the month, from 10 - 12, whilst Clinic is in progress. This means that anyone can drop in whilst already there, or call in for a special visit, once a month. Coffee and a chat will always be available, a chance to talk to others who have lupus and to browse through resources. We've been asked to make it clear though that advice on treatments is not available here, that's still Elizabeth's role.
We hope to see some of you there, many have asked for this facility to be available before and it's up to us to make the most of it now that it is.
The first session is going to be
- Thurs 13th July 10 - 12, followed by
- 10th August,
- 14th September,
- 12th October,
- 9th November,
- 14th December.
It's effectiveness will then be reviewed by ourselves and the Clinic.
